  • 4 Efficient, well thought out and healthy training routines

    I've been an enthusiastic amateur athlete for years (mainly running and cycling, with a bit of swimming), and always following my own training routines. After attending Nico's boot camps this winter, following his training plans, I experienced two things : - I got very tired all over very quickly. This didn't involve pounding out the miles for hours upon hours. It involved very specific, targeted, fun exercises that very quickly got my heart and lungs pounding and improving my fitness. A much healthier way to train than punishing my shins on miles of concrete. - My muscle flexibility improved greatly; the training involved a range of motions - in both exercises and stretches. This has really helped me out after suffering from IT band tightness for a long time, mostly caused by (as I've now come to realise with the help of Nico) monotonous unvaried training. On top of that he's a nice guy, easy to talk to and understand, and very keen and willing to give as much help and advice as possible. cheers Nico. Trev.

    In the two years I have been training with Nico my fitness has gone from strength to strength. I have a busy work and social schedule but Nico managed to create a programme that fits around my hectic life and still improves month on month. Are you following a triathlon training plan?

When we exercise in a triathlon training plan we apply stress to the body breaking it down a little bit. On completion we have a shower, food and if we're lucky a massage. During this post-exercise time our bodies recover - build back up and adapt to the stress that was imposed so we get stronger. This is called the SAID principle - specific adaptation to imposed demand - and is one of the most important considerations to think about when exercising.

EPOC For Runners Cyclists Triathlon

How long will EPOC last? The effect is greatest on the first few hours post exercise and reduces over time. It may last up to 48 hours depending on the intensity of the exercise performed, so if you exercise 3-5 times per week then you will benefit from EPOC calories daily!
